The Internet is quickly becoming an invaluable resource for activists and people engaged in building a sustainable future. A growing amount of information is now readily available online.
An automated mailing list has now been set up for the Citizens Network for Sustainable Development! To join the list, send an email message to: majordomo@igc.org with the message: subscribe citnet-list [your email address]. You will automatically be added to the discussion group and will be able to receive and post messages to everyone who has subscribed to the CitNet list.
Work has also been initiated to create a website for the Citizens Network. The temporary address is http://www.odsnet.com/habitat/citnet/citnet.html A permanent address will be established as soon as the site reaches completion. Suggestions or submissions for the site are welcomed, please email nmaffitt@aol.com with your comments.
This three-year-old NGO facilitating mechanism is now actively preparing for the fifth session of the United Nations Council on Sustainable Development. The work of NGOs who are active in planning CSD events can have access through the website at http://www.igc.apc.org/habitat/csd-97. The Sustainable Communities Network is now online! The SCN is for those who want to help make their communities more livable. This site catalogues a broad range of issues and resources to help make this happen. This web site is being developed to increase the visibility of what has worked for other communities, and to promote a lively exchange of information to help create community sustainability in both urban and rural areas.
