This workshop will feature the origins, current trends, and frontiers of research in the area of metamaterials. It is an occasion to discuss the future of this flourishing area of science and technology, and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate one of the founding fathers and world leaders of metamaterials, Nader Engheta, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

Hotel, Parking, and Transit Information

The Study Hotel & 30th Street Station

Hotel

There is a room block available at The Study at University City, which is next to the venue. The block is available until Wednesday, September 10, 2025. This block is for stays from October 8th through October 11th. For longer stays, you can book directly through the hotel by clicking here. Alternatively, there are two other hotels on campus in which you can reserve a room. They are the Inn at Penn, located at 3600 Sansom Street, and the Sheraton University City, located at 3549 Chestnut Street. 

 

Parking & Transit

There are a number of public parking garages in the area that can be utilized, as well as on-campus parking. For on-campus garages, we recommend Walnut 32, Chestnut 34, and Walnut 38.

If you are utilizing public transportation, William H. Gray III 30th Street Station is a 15 minute walk from Amy Gutmann Hall and is a hub for Amtrak and SEPTA Regional Rail lines.
