1 The three M, NS, or E electives should be selected with a view to providing foundations and tools for the application foci selections to follow.  Application foci courses should be chosen after first selecting an area of focus in consultation with the student's faculty advisor.

2 Three of the courses in the SSH category must satisfy the depth, writing, and ethics requirements. Courses that satisfy the Ethics requirement include BE 303/EAS 303 and, via petition  LGST 210, LGST 220, SM 920, PHIL 002, PHIL 079, PHIL 372 and PHIL 472.
